Ingredients for the sauce:

  • cups bread flour
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • cups of warm water
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil

Ingredients for the sauce:

  • 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 clove of garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon of sugar
  • salt and pepper to taste

Ingredients for the toppings:

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Toppings of your choice (pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, etc.)


Instructions for the dough:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Mix well.
  • Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the warm water and olive oil. Stir until the dough starts to come together.
  • Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
  • Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until it doubles in size.

Instructions for the sauce:

  • In a medium-sized bowl, combine the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Let the sauce sit for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Instructions for assembling and baking the pizza:

  • Preheat your oven to the highest temperature it can reach (usually around 500-550°F). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.
  • Punch down the risen dough and divide it into two equal portions. Shape each portion into a round ball and let them rest for 15-20 minutes.
  • Take one dough ball and flatten it into a disk. Start stretching the dough gently using your hands, working from the center towards the edges, until you achieve a 12-14 inch round pizza shape. Repeat with the other dough ball.
  • Transfer the stretched dough onto a pizza peel or a lightly floured baking sheet.
  • Spread a thin layer of the prepared sauce onto the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  • Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  • Add your desired toppings, such as pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, etc.
  • Carefully transfer the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven.
  • Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
  • Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
